Louis J. Mayer, Ed.D. joined Stevens Institute of Technology, a private research university located in Hoboken, New Jersey, as Chief Financial Officer, VP for Finance and Treasurer in March 2015. He is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to all business operations of the university, including financial accounting and reporting; financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis; debt management; risk management and compliance; investment management; treasury management; procurement; internal audit; and sponsored research accounting. Stevens has an operating budget of $257 million and an endowment of $205 million.
Prior to Stevens, Dr. Mayer held CFO and VP for Finance positions at Saint Joseph’s University, The William Penn Foundation, and The University of the Arts, all located in Philadelphia. He began his career in the audit division of the certified public accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Company. In addition, he has taught courses on nonprofit financial management as a lecturer at Immaculata University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Mayer is a CPA and holds a B.S. in accounting from Saint Joseph’s University, an MBA in Executive Management from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
