Darrell Bazzell is the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at The University of Texas at Austin. He serves as the financial steward of the university’s resources with an operating budget of $3 billion and as the chief executive for a large portfolio of campus services – budget, finance, human resources, procurement, campus safety and security, information technology, facilities management, environmental health, and other business services – comprised of more than 2,300 employees. In this role, Bazzell has championed long-term budgetary strategies in support of the university’s research and educational missions and projects to modernize business systems. Previously, he served for 13 years as the vice chancellor for finance and administration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he helped steward the university through several state budget-writing processes and myriad initiatives to enhance campus services. Prior to his role at UW-Madison, he devoted18 years of service to the State of Wisconsin working in various leadership, budget and analyst roles in several state agencies, including an appointment as the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources. He has served in leadership roles on several non-profit boards in both Madison and Austin.
