Dr. Christophe Pierre is Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Stevens Institute of Technology. He is responsible for all academic departments, schools, colleges and research centers and ensures that Stevens maintains the culture and deploys the human and physical infrastructure necessary to achieve its mission. In consultation with academic deans and the faculty senate, the Dr. Pierre also oversees and develops the research and entrepreneurship portfolios of the university, establishes all academic policies, oversees reviews of all academic units and leads and implements strategic planning pursuant to the university's 10-year strategic plan, The Future. Ours to Create. Dr. Pierre works closely with Dr. Louis Mayer, the Chief Financial Officer, Vice President for Finance and Treasurer to manage the annual university-wide budget process, working closely with the other vice presidents, deans and faculty, staff and student leadership.
Dr. Pierre received his Engineering Diploma in aerospace engineering from École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures de Paris, M.S. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and materials science from Duke University.
Before Stevens, Dr. Pierre served as chief academic officer and the president’s deputy at the University of Illinois. Prior to joining the University of Illinois, Dr. Pierre served as dean of engineering at McGill University in Montreal and as associate dean for academic programs and initiatives in the University of Michigan's Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, among other roles in higher education.
