In today's competitive employment environment, perhaps no mission is more important in higher education than preparing students for careers and employment. The speakers will discuss development of a program with the primary goal of providing students with employment opportunities during or following their undergraduate years. This involves leveraging existing vendor relationships on campus, in coordination with the appropriate campus department, and securing specific employment commitments from vendors for student internships or permanent employment upon graduation. Significant opportunities stem from vendors who provide services to campus, such as accounting, banking, financial, insurance, food, architectural and building, environmental, and technology services.

Learning Objectives

  • Find synergy with student employment/development departments to identify employment opportunities
  • Work with campus vendors to develop student internship and permanent employment opportunities
  • Benchmark and fine tune the success of a student employment program to make it highly accountable
