Digital transformation is well underway in many industries. Amazon has transformed retail. Uber has transformed the taxi ride. But what will transform higher ed—and what does our future look like? Inevitably, the digital transformation will impact higher ed, so campus leaders need to play a critical role in helping their institutions understand the urgency and potential of digital transformation. With growing public pressure to show real value for higher education, increasing expectations from students for a seamless digital college experience, and students who are increasingly less likely to spend all of their college careers at one institution, higher education is at a critical point in its evolution. This session’s speakers will describe the EDUCAUSE efforts to define digital transformation; help campus leaders understand the impacts it will have on workforce, culture, and technology; and prepare for an uncertain future.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the importance of digital transformation in higher education
  • Understand the digital transformation impact on workforce, culture, and technology
  • Plan for the next steps you can take at your own institution
