Vijay Tunikipati is head of Investment Risk for the TIAA Endowment & Philanthropic Services business.
Prior to his current role, Vijay served as the Chief Risk Officer of Covariance. Vijay has more than 20 years of experience in risk management and risk consulting. Prior to Covariance, Vijay was the Assistant Vice President in charge of market risk for Harvard Management Company. In this capacity, Vijay managed investment and trading risk as well as enterprise-wide risk across multiple asset classes and diverse liquidity profiles for the $35 billion endowment.
Additionally, Vijay has experience in building and mentoring risk management teams, and in designing risk solutions and infrastructure for both internal trading platforms and for fund-of-funds/alternative investment platforms. Previously, Vijay was a Principal Consultant for SunGard Trading & Risk Systems in New York and in Tokyo, where he managed a team of business analysts to implement a global enterprise-wide risk management system. He led the implementation of risk management software at various financial institutions including investment banks, hedge funds, endowments and energy companies.
Vijay holds a MBA from the International University of Japan and a Bachelors of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
