Business offices have no shortage of motivators for pursuing scale in administrative services: compliance, service quality, risk reduction, and, of course, cost reductions. Yet, over the past decade, horror stories about shared services have left administrators wondering whether the risk is worth it. The presenters will highlight the work of three institutions that have deployed process improvement alongside organizational change to facilitate consolidation and secure buy-in from campus stakeholders. Their case studies will reveal how process improvement served as a critical lever in standardizing work, reducing errors, mitigating risks, and increasing compliance.
