Opening Event

Join us at the California Academy of Sciences for the NACUBO 2010 Opening Event on Saturday, July 24 from 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm. The California Academy of Sciences is located in the San Francisco's Golden Gate Park and is the only building in the world that houses an aquarium, a planetarium, a natural history museum and a 4-story rainforest. Attendees will be able to explore the Academy's hundreds of exhibits and observe over 40,000 animals that call the Academy home.

The Califorina Academy of Natural Sciences was founded in 1853, which became the California Academy of Sciences in 1868. After the Great Quake of 1906, the Market Street building that housed the Academy was destroyed. The Academy was moved to Golden Gate Park and has been expanding ever since. The facilities closed in 2003 to expand and construct exhibits, and opened to the public in 2004 in the Academy's newest home on Howard Street. While enjoying great food and networking with peers, Opening Event attendees will have the opportunity to explore the greenest museum on hte planet, experience a tropical rainforest and watch piranha's swim over their heads all under one roof.

Shuttle buses will transport attendees from the Marriott Grand Marquis and the Grand Hyatt. Tickets are included in the Full Convention registration fee. Additional tickets are available for purchase, including tickets for children under the age of 16 .
