San Francisco and Bay Area
San Francisco is surrounded by water on three sides, located on a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay. It is generally placed in a category by itself in terms of culture and geography, and is known by locals as "The City." San Francisco is the key population center of the region as it squeezes approximately 800,000 people in only 47 square miles, making it the second most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City.
The city offers a very grand entrance via the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge (if arriving from the north) or the Bay Bridge (if coming from the east, which connects to Oakland, CA). San Francisco is also well-known for its hills, so be prepared for a work-out when walking around the city.
Convention Center: Moscone West
