Description

Enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act marked the first significant rewrite of the tax code in more than 30 years. Subsequently, colleges and universities have been grappling with implementing the new law with little or no guidance from the Internal Revenue Service. In this session, members of the Tax Council will discuss IRS developments that impact colleges and universities, NACUBO’s work on tax issues, and the impact of tax reform on higher education. They will also explore short- and long-term practical considerations for institutions.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how tax reform impacts employees, students, donors, and institutions.
  • Select tax-planning strategies to mitigate any adverse impacts of tax reform.
  • Consider the next steps IRS and the Department of Treasury might take that will shape implementation and compliance on your campus.
