Description

Increasingly, universities and colleges are considering the reach of their organizations and the expression of their missions through socially responsible investment strategies. Climate change as a stand-alone trend has resonated with several demographic groups, in particular Millennials. Given the recent policy shift announcement in June 2017, communicating the U.S. intentions to leave the Paris Climate accords, this trend may continue. Responsible investing provides one lens through which investors can consider the impact of their portfolio and use investor tools, such as proxy voting, to engage on these issues.

Learning Objectives

  • Review the lexicon and landscape of socially responsible investing.
  • Examine what’s driving universities and colleges to increasingly adopt this investment philosophy.
  • Articulate the investment thesis for climate change investing.
