Description

In today’s higher education environment, no institution can withstand a crisis that destroys or damages its reputation. The damage to an institution’s reputation impacts prospective students, recruitment of quality faculty, donors, prospective donors, careers and, most important, your students and their families. To successfully respond to any emergent situation, the institution’s senior leadership team must understand and accept a framework and process that provides the president with immediate and effective advice during a crisis. This experiential presentation outlines a proven framework and thought process utilized by our military, which encompasses the responsibilities of the senior leadership team and the president during a crisis.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how to recognize a crisis.
  • Determine the members of your institution’s crisis action team.
  • Institutionalize crisis management processes and protocols within your college or university.
