After nearly a decade of successfully implementing continuous improvement projects in individual administrative and academic units, Fresno State wanted to nurture an overall, sustainable culture of innovation and improvement. In 2014 the university launched an organizational development program to engage faculty, staff, and administrators in the process of institutional transformation. Titled Creativity and Innovation for Effectiveness (CAIFE), the program blends individual development with focused efforts to enhance organizational effectiveness. In this interactive session, panelists will explain how the three-phase methodology used by Fresno State engages a campus community in conceptualizing, co-developing, and proposing new ways of doing business in higher education.

Learning Objectives

  • Encourage people to think differently about solving organizational problems and uncover big ideas through cross functional innovation.
  • Engage cross-functional working groups in developing new skills and becoming more effective teams.
  • Generate a high level of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity around solving administrative and academic challenges.
