Higher education is increasingly turning to the cloud for enterprise applications. Selection of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and other cloud-based solutions requires consideration of factors beyond those evaluated during on-premise software selections. These evaluations consider the impact of changes in cost models, the need to align functional processes with those supported by these solutions, and the associated need for organizational change management. Using the University of Arkansas System as an example, this presentation follows the selection of a solution that addresses the needs of a wide-ranging set of universities, community colleges, professional schools, institutes, divisions, and entities.

Learning Objectives

  • Examine the types of cloud software options currently available.
  • Identify the benefits of combining software and implementation services into a single RFP and of separating the two into individual RFPs.
  • Employ best practices when evaluating and selecting enterprise cloud applications.
