Many stakeholders, both inside and outside higher education institutions, are demanding a new budgeting strategies to help address financial and organizational challenges. The speakers will describe a careful, detailed planning process that includes benchmarking and analysis and incorporates strategic initiatives into the development of operating and capital budgets for the next year, usually within the context of a multi-year financial modeling perspective. The process leads to shared understanding, trust, and cooperation across the institution and encourages faculty, students, and staff to generate new ideas for institutional savings or revenue generation.
