“Sorry, you have a hold.” Nobody wants that sentence to be the final communication between a college administrator and a student. Yet student financial obligations are often barriers to student success. At the same time, billing and collections are crucial functions for colleges and universities. In this session, student financial services professionals will discuss how institutions can identify and connect with students when financial distress occurs, then translate what they’ve learned into budget, planning, enrollment, and retention tools.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how the business office can honor its fiduciary responsibility while removing barriers to success.
  • Examine the transformation of student financial services in recent years, which has yielded favorable reviews from students, parents, and employees.
  • Analyze developing trends in student financial services.
