Ruben Rivera , Ph.D.

Ruben Rivera has been educated in biblical studies and the history of Christianity and global mission, and holds a Ph.D. from Boston University. He has taught history for many years at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota and is now the Chief Diversity Officer at Bethel. He has spoken frequently in churches, conferences and other venues on themes of incarnational mission while avoiding the cultural captivity of Christ that often leads to many forms of hegemony and injustice, the history of Christianity in Latin America, U.S. Hispanic Christianity, biblical responses to immigration, the racialization of the human and beauty, Christianity and the consumer self, racial and other forms of inequality, and biblical reconciliation-shalom.
