Karen Casillas is a Vice President, Financial Advisor, joining CAPTRUST in January 2012. Karen has over 25 years’ experience in the investment arena including leadership positions with Fidelity Investments, American Funds, and Dean Witter. Prior to her role with CAPTRUST, she was a Plan Consultant Director with NFP Retirement and a Relationship Manager for Voya where she provided retirement plan consulting for a variety of non-profit and corporate clients. Karen specializes in providing institutional investment advice as well as consulting on plan design and fiduciary best practices. She has a significant background in investment research and due diligence, fiduciary governance, plan administration, compliance, employee education and communication, and both brokerage and mutual fund operations. Karen graduated with a B.S. degree in Economics from University of California, Davis. She has passed FINRA Series 6, 7, 8, 24, 26, 65, and 66 licensing exams, is an investment advisor representative, and holds the Certified Fund Specialist (CFS) designation and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) credential.

Karen resides in Southern California with her husband, their two children, and a new Labrador puppy. Karen and her daughter are active volunteers with the National Charity League Vista Robles Chapter and HOBY.org.
