Dr. Henry DeVries joined Ellucian in Fairfax, VA, as a Management Consultant, Principal in 2013 specializing in strategic services supporting business analytics in higher education. His client-facing activities focus on data governance, performance metrics, and business analytics reporting.
He attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975. He received a Master of Science degree in January, 1978, from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York in the field of Agronomy. From 1978 until 1985, he served as an Assistant Professor of Agriculture at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. He returned to Cornell University in 1985 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the field of Floriculture and Ornamental Horticulture which he received in 1993.
In March, 1989, he began working with Cornell Cooperative Extension where he was a faculty member in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and served as the Director of the Extension Electronic Technology Group.
In April, 1997, he returned to Calvin College to become the Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer of the college. In July, 2000, he assumed additional administrative responsibilities and became the Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Information Services and Chief Financial Officer.
Henry has also been regularly involved with the higher education professional associations in both information technology and business. Recently, he has served on three different EDUCAUSE Expert Panels: The Future of Administrative IT (2013), Empowering Students in the Age of Big Data (2012), and Analytics (2011).
In 2013, he completed his second term on the Board of Directors of Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO) where he served as president from 2010-2011. He was also a member of the NACUBO Board of Directors from 2009 to 2011.
