Debbie Muller Walker is the Vice President for Business Affairs at Midlands Technical College (MTC) in Columbia, South Carolina where she has been employed since 1997. Debbie received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina (USC), and an MBA in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University. She is a graduate of the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers’ College of Business Management Institute at the University of Kentucky and has received Certification as a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) from the Institute for Public Service and Policy Research at USC. Debbie also graduated from the Kaleidoscope Institute Leadership program.
Debbie is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of South Carolina (GFOASC), the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), and the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO) for twenty years.
In 2009, Debbie was elected to the Board of Directors of the GFOASC. She became President of GFOA and served from 2012 to 2013. Debbie also served on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Compliance Certification Team and in 2010, MTC was reaffirmed by SACS and received “Zero” recommendations. She served as the SACUBO Drive-In Workshop Coordinator for two years and she received the Outstanding Business Officer Award in 2010 from the Community College Business Officers (CCBO).
Under Debbie’s leadership, the College has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) for 20 consecutive years.
Debbie is married to Nathan F. Walker and they have two daughters: Felicia Lin, MD - Psychiatrist and Courtney Amanda, who received her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) and is employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. She is a member of the New Faith Community Church, Santee, South Carolina.
