Craig Alexander is the Director of Legal Resources at the National Association of College and University Attorneys. Previously, Craig served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) for many years. HHMI is a NACUA member and one of the world’s largest philanthropic organizations as an endowed medical research and grant-making organization whose mission is to advance biomedical research and science education. Craig was a member of NACUA during his time at HHMI and was engaged directly with a wide variety of higher education legal issues, including research, technology transfer, intellectual property, compliance, governance, employment, tax, real estate and international law. Craig practiced as an independent consultant on business and investment projects after leaving HHMI in 2013 prior to joining NACUA. Before his work at HHMI, he served as an associate with two law firms. He also was a tax accountant with KPMG Peat Marwick before deciding to attend law school.
Craig earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Butler University and Juris Doctor from Georgetown University where he served as Editor of The Georgetown Law Journal.
