NACUBO's Commitment to Sustainability
In support of NACUBO's leadership on sustainability efforts, the Annual Meeting incorporates the following initiatives to promote environmentally conscious policies focused on resource conservation and sustainable business practices.

Carbon Footprint
Once again, the NACUBO Annual Meeting is fighting global warming with high-quality carbon offsets in partnership with our preferred provider, Native Energy, an organization dedicated to helping build Native American, farmer-owned and community-based projects.
City of Tampa Initiatives
The City of Tamp has been a leader in green practices such as land and water conservation, wildlife protection, recycling, air and water quality, toxic waste elimination and reduction, and the overall efficient use of resources.For example, Tampa's McKay Bay Refuse-to-Energy Plant diverts 90% of generated municipal solid waste from the county landfills. Tampa Convention Center
- Participating in Teaching Tools for Hillsborough Schools donating supplies such as tote bags, note pads, pens, pencils, books, scissors, calculators and other give-away items
- Donating excess food from center functions to local charities with an estimate of 250,000 to 300,000 meals a year to various other charities like Metropolitan Ministries and Second Harvest
- Recycling office paper, mixed paper, bottles, cans and cardboard. Over 1600 cubic yards of cardboard are recycled every year
- Using vendors with the same commitment to environmental concerns
- Utilizing sustainable food products and local produce
Tampa Bay History Center
- The walls of glass on the front of the building provide natural light
- Look for recycled rubber flooring in "Cowmen & Crackers" and "Natural Resources." Marmoleum-100% biodegradable flooring made from linseed oil, pine rosin, and sawdust-is used in some non-public areas of the building. Recycled content carpet tiles are found throughout the museum
- The bathrooms feature "smart" lights that turn on and off automatically
- Museum publications are printed on recycled paper

- Walking: The Tampa Convention Center is within walking distance of many downtown locations
- Biking: Dedicated bike lanes can be found in downtown Tampa. Rental bikes are available at http://citybiketampa.com/
- Water Taxi: Access downtown and inner Tampa Bay using alternative transportation http://www.tampawatershuttle.com/
Public Transit Information
- TECO Line Streetcar System: A 2.9 mile electric streetcar line that connects downtown Tampa, Channelside and Ybor City, improving transportation capacity, supporting Tampa's thriving cruise industry and transporting workers to and from their jobs seven days per week.
- HART In-Town Trolley and Bus Services: A downtown service of transportation available to both locals and visitors of Tampa. Awarded both Clean Air Partnership Designation and GreenFleet designation by the Environmental Protection Commission, HART utilizes hybrid buses getting 18% more miles per gallon.
